Lost electric Friday evening. Quick hard storm.

As did the entire area. Been a long hard weekend.
Powered up with the generators, only to loan them
out to needy neighbors.

Ended up powering my home via an inverter, dads via
generator. Both homes have a 8000 watt diesel generator
backup but would you believe neither on of them would start
this time? Mine wouldn't start. Dad's at least started but couldn't
provide power. So we went to the portable generators from the
racecar days. And then loaned mine out to a neighbor and went
to inverter power on the diesel pickup.

Lost six trees in my own yard. Probably a few hundred
trees in the area. So we've been cutting trees. Bonfire coming.

Power finally came on this evening. But I'm so tired.

To top it off, the county water department began to shut off
water in various areas to prevent pump failure. Being a wise
old spook, I keep a stock pile of some things. Water, gas, diesel,
power cords.

Many sevice stations, stores and such closed due to no power.
Even the bank today was drive-thru only, running on generator
power.

So it's been a long weekend here in Spookland. Lazy as I am, I
had to work all weekend.

Ice...impossible to get. People actually got in a fistfight at WalMart
over a bag of ICE.

Spook...glad to have his electric again.

Well it wasn't boring.

Spooks prefer boring routine days.

When the storm hit, my wife and daughter were at play
practice. Storm dropped two trees there, one on a car,
and blew the windows out of the third floor.

Occupants unable to leave building, sheltered in hallway.
Thank goodness for cell phone communations.

Not the best way to start a friday evening.

I hear ya! Glad you're doing alright. I heard about the devastation. I know about the ice thing, when Wilma hit here almost 6 years ago, it was bedlam!! Don't want to relive that! Take care, and be safe.

My husband was at home near Cambridge. I am in CA taking care of my mother.. It took out our gazebo, took down numerous trees and in general trashed our place. Our house wasn't hit but he could see debris swirling in the air. He said the gazebo was thrown through the air like a lawn chair. It was bolted down with 4 inch lag bolts into 4x4's. When he builds something he wants it to last. Power went out Friday night also. He got power again this morning. He ran a small generator for our freezers. I would hate to lose the venison! The kicker is today he crawled under the house to reboot the pump which failed to recycle when the power came back on. As he backed out of the crawl space he got stung about 100 times with hornets and yellow jackets. He called me in Ca and told me he was on the kitchen floor and couldn't get up and his tounge was swelling and his feet felt like they were going to explode. I finally convinced him to call 911. Called some friends to stay with him until our volunteer squad arrived and hit him with epiphedrine and a benydryl drip. They transported him to the ER. He was released a few hours later. He is supposed to fly to CA on Thursday to celebrate Mother's 90th birthday. The way she has been today I was afraid I was losing both of them. I know he hates CA but what a way to try to get out of this trip!!
Guess I am just stressing tonight and I wasn't even there for the big storm. I just hope he makes the plane without any more problems. I haven't seen him in 5 weeks.

Mercy! Mother Nature is reminding us puny humans who is boss on this planet.

Glad to hear you are alright Spook. Better get someone to check out those generators! I test mine out every 60 to 90 days.I should do it every 30 days. You've got me thinking about the ice situation. Need to make up plenty and keep it on hand. I live just about 20 from the coast of Texas, north of Lavaca bay.
