Found a black egg today! Itās possible my May hatch duck laid it as her first, but I canāt be sureā¦my two ducks and even turkey lay eggs in the same placeMy March 20 duck just laid her first eggitās not black, though. Also not fertile because my drake is 2 months younger and doesnāt know what to do.
My cayuga's start off with a black egg each time. and go to a greenish colour after. I tried to find the picture in my phone.. no luck yet...Wow, so turkey eggs are blk? I did not know this, and Cayuga egg is the other one. I was under the impression Cayuga laid close to blk and they got lighter as they kept laying?
No, the dark ones are Cayuga duck. In the nest pic above you can see my other Cayugaās eggs and two turkey eggs (speckly) that my hen snuck in the duck nestWow, so turkey eggs are blk? Most of the time it is very black again! Darkness varies between individualsSame
Her last egg was much lighter in color (not quite green) but still dark blotches
But now she hasn't laid for weeks so I'm expecting her next egg to be very dark when she starts again
