I have cedar trees near the coop, is it bad if the needles get in the water for the chickens? I could rig something up to stop it, but wasn’t sure if it was bad for them

Consider this; if you change the water every day your waterer is acting as a mosquito trap. Better to leave the larva in the water than encouraging the mosquitos to find other places to lay their eggs.
