CENTRAL FLORIDA SWAP MEET - April 18th

I have Spec Sux eggs, LOL !

JAOH, Any breed you enjoy is a good breed, I personally like Orpingtons, Jersey Giants and Speckled Sux as far as large breeds and egg layers. Ask other people, they might say I like any chicken with feathers, he he. Free range is fine if you have a fenced yard, but I'd be weary if you don't because of loose animals that could harm them. Having a coop for them to sleep in to be protected at night, wether you free range or not is best, unless you have a breed like the Phoenix that likes to roost in high trees. What would be the main propose of your chickens?

DARN IT!!! I don't have any broodies - and incubators are $$$$. Oooooh! I'm just itchin' to get some!!! Really.

You can buy the styrofoam incubators for about $45.

i think my purpose for having chcickens would mostly for pets, and maybe a few eggs. lol. since i dont have any experience with them, im at a loss where to start!! i do have a smallish fenced area, and hubby is pretty decent with building stuff, as long as its not too fancy!! i also have an interest in peacocks, just love them.

thanks, kelly

I think my husband will have my head if I spend more on this project!!! Thanks, so much, for thinking of me!

I would go to tractor supply and there are a few books on poultry, or look online and see what breeds attract you. Read the aspects of those breeds; temperament, if they do well with confinement, hardness, egg laying ability, do they lay colored eggs etc. Then ask about those breeds here on the forums and see what people who have them like/dislike about them. When you come to the swap ask about the breeds you see, they might help you make a decision aswell.

I live in Lutz and my bator will be empty next week. I have a big cabinet incubator. You will just need to have the brooder box ready once they hatch...
