I can't believe I'm selling my sex links! I sold the three least tame ones to a woman who's replenishing her laying flock, and this weekend I'm selling my three most favorite ones (Oh I'm going to miss my sweeties) since I don't want my other chickens who are older picking on them. It made me so sad to see my sweeties huddled fearfully in the corner of the big coop while the barred rocks and Welsummers traumatized them. So of course, I put them back in the small portable coop. Luckily, the family that is buying my sweethearts (Ebony, Billy Jean, and Queen Egwene) is also buying the portable coop, so I know they will have a safe and familiar place to live. It makes it less painful. The older boy is interested in showing chickens and I know my three sweeties will make the best pets. I didn't know if hybrids have their own category at the fair, but my beauties are so healthy and shiny...
I will have to post some farewell pictures of them now that they are 2 months old. I will take some new pictures tomorrow, so you can see how they've grown. Here is a pic of the 'least tame ones' that found a new home today.
Farewell to Spawn and the Spice Girls: Ginger and Cinnamon. Karen is their new mommy.
Tomorrow I'll post my farewell pics of my three sweeties.
