This is a link to the Challah bread with pics, including my lovely Marans eggs.
The eggnog recipe came from The Williamsburg Cookbook, which is a fantastic rustic cookbook.
Eggnog (12 cups)
6 eggs, separated
1/2 c. sugar
2 c. whipping cream
1 c. milk
1/2 c. bourbon
1/2 c. brandy
1/2 c. light rum
nutmeg, freshly grated please
beat egg yolks with the sugar until thick.
Slowly add the cream, milk, spirits.
Chill.
Whip the egg whites until soft peaks form and add to the mixture.
Chill and let ripen a few hours.
Sprinkle with nutmeg before serving.
When you pour it, it will smell strongly of liquor, but you won't be able to taste it. I modified the recipe a little for the benefit of my jean size. I used half and half instead of cream and 1 % milk.
