"champagne " colored tuxedo patterned Coturnix ?

okay folks, i just heard back from the lady who gave me the "champagne " birds. She doesn't know what to charge. Processed she said she gets 5.00 a bird. 1 week old chicks are sold for 1.00 each .I really want to be fair. What do adults go for in general. She's not into colors at all.

We must have posted close in time. I'm practically in the Gulf so ya to me you are in the North - Cold Country.

I like your babies. But tossed my little theory right out the door, and we can stomp it down for sure.

I think. I see a Female Manchurian Gold baby there (males have darker heads). And it has a well defined pattern by the way.

So ignore the aboves where I was stabbing in the dark.

But it is interesting with my Jumbo Browns and M Gold. I had 2 Whites and I don't remember the yellow head on them. And the striping is gold on mine, yours are white. I know that mine are just saturated with M Gold throughout. I'll have to look at pictures on my puter to see my White babies later. Yours definately have recessive in them.

Your 5-7 week olds, that she gave you, are mature by the way and are ready for breeding. I still think your golds have the recessive white in them.

Is it just the camera, or do your (champaigns') have black eyes? Looking kind of reddish only when held up to the light.

Had them 3-4 years and breeds them how often? I definately think there was plenty of time to dilute there. Coturnix can have 5 generations per year. WOW. That could be 20 Generations to get to the Champaign Color. WOW. No Wait.

When did this color start showing up in her birds? Do you Know?

She shouldn;t be to disapponted in not getting BW, cause if she selects for size hers will get bigger, if they are Jumbo Browns and Texas A&M's. I am not so sure about that. How much do your older girls weigh? GEESH that's all I do is ask questions. And one leads to another.

Hahahaha... pleeeeeeeeeeeease do keep asking the questions as i'm trying to learn and it helps me alot to have them asked .
She has all her birds together all year with lights so they lay all year and so on.
I have no idea when the color showed up . I'm sure she never paid attention. They're food and eggs ..........
the girls both have black eyes . as many as 20 generations huh? hahahah
you think the Mancharian is a hen? it's very loud and noisy so i figured it might be a male but basically i am CLUELESS still.

i need to know what the general price for adult (live of course!) Coturnix are.She emailed me to let me know she'd look at her birds and see if she has any more light but not white ones . She charges 1.00 for 1 week old chicks and 5.00 for processed. i told her i'd find out what the going price is.

I am still on the idea that this bird is stained...

I can take pictures of birds that I have that look just like her... I have at least 5 and they dust bathe in this pine shaving that make them that way...I can't wash the color off at all so they are beige instead of white.

Not trying to be mean or anything...if there was a valid proof, you would see it in some of the offspring..with button quail the pied will show slightly in the chicks and develop further and the chicks get their feathers in.

Going price varies with each area. But here locally I pay 25-50 cents an egg. $1 per chick, and it goes up a $ at each weeks age until $5. Processed I have not found in Texas. I think that the Prices here for the older are a bit high cause there are a lot that don't get sold.

This spring adult birds were $10 each.

Yes, your gold could be a boy, I didn't notice the darker head on it though, sould just be camera angle. I have a picture of a female adult to show you. My males are just 4 weeks old yesterday so I haven't taken pic's yet.

Here is one of my Manchurian Golds.

A male will look about the same but have a darker head.
Hum, I quess I need to take some better pictures and she was still young there.

edited to add:
If she puts these babies just on wire and no shavings later, that would probably tell.

i want peoples' honest thoughts here. i don't think you are "being mean or anything" ... the thing is , they have white on their undersides and feathers that would be in more contact with the bedding are white...bright white in most cases. There are also just too many featers that seem like they would be stained not stained... well i guess i'll do some experimenting and see what comes of it ...
