And then of course I forgot to say.... I hope you have a great hatch !!! 🤗
Thank you! I'm sure he'll be pleased with whatever chicks he gets, 25 went into lockdown, quite a few weren't fertile which doesn't surprise me with the heat we've been having (English Orp cockerels are not over achievers when it's hot, lol) and I'm only charging $2 per chick. I'm excited to have chicks again, even if it is only for a couple days🥰 First little is out

Super pretty... I, for one would completely understand if you claimed that one didn't hatch to keep for yourself. But then you would need at least 2 more for the chicken math enabling system to work properly...🤗
So funny that you said that, I told my husband if I was just hatching to sell, I'd keep it, lol

I failed chicken math.
I have a hen that has gone broody two years in the row. Last year I let her hatch the eggs, but this year, I tried to prevent it. I took her eggs, tried locking her out of the coop during the day.
Then things got busy and she ended up sitting and hatching a single egg.
I actually thought the egg was a dud because I swear she set on it for more than a month.
Now she is a proud mama of one chick.

Now that I wrote the above, I suspect that the egg that hatched may not be the original egg.
I have seen a possum in my yard before. I suspect that it took the original egg, probably more but one of the other hens laid another one so broody took it and set on it.

Some of the brooder chicks. I think we're up to 16, after this new one dries I'm gonna candle the remaining eggs and see what's what
