"Changes to child labor laws hurt farmers."

Take a look at the sponsors: big agribusiness, insurance companies, farm equipment manufacturers....http://www.fs4jk.org/sponsors.htm None of these have any major stock in the small family farm. If the sponsors were the families of the injured and deceased of farm workers, I might be a little less suspicious of ulterior motives. Check out "Chapter Chat." There is an entire journal about Monsanto grants.

Not sure what point you're trying to make.

Have you ever researched Monsanto? Entire countries want to ban Monsanto because of their greed. They have ruined the lives of small farmers.

Geez, sorry. You only read the first sentence and you jump all over me. Nevermind the rest of what i said WHICH IS IN AGREEMENT to what many of you hastily attacked me for being against. Sheesh!

What I said in the first sentence is that I can see what that bill is about. There are a lot of kids who are working in places where they shouldn't be and getting themselves hurt, so I can see why this bill was proposed. I don't know if anyone's noticed, but a big whopping number of parents do NOT parent. And, many parents purposely expose their kids to dangerous working conditions. I'm not talking about the factory farm or even small scale farming. And, I didn't say I was for or against this bill.

There seems to be a whole lot of arguing, flaming and unneccesary attacks all throughout this thread.

That is ridiculous.
As a teen myself, I work hard in my free time. And, I would have to say I am the most capable person in my class. I can manage most things, unlike most of them who have never worked on a farm. They are utterly clueless and can't do anything.

Myself, I get paid by my uncle to herd cattle and help with the branding/vaccinating/tagging calves.

I also take a summer job at the racetrack working with the horses.

I help neighbors clean sheds.

My best friend and I use a tractor.

I wouldn't know what to do with myself If this was taken away from me.
Too much extra time gets young people into trouble.....
Plus, the extra cash from working is really nice.
