I have a question about leg color; my birds all had lovely yellow legs, and I know that the hen's leg color will fade when they are in lay. But, my two year old cock bird also has faded white legs, and he's not laying any eggs! They all eat Flock Raiser, free choice oyster shell, and free range on several acres of horse pasture and a spruce hedge. Why? All their chicks have nice dark yellow legs too. Mary

No answer found! I like him a lot anyway. Many birds don't live to be two or three or older, so maybe it's normal but unnoticed?
Another question; you mentioned that his tail isn't so good, but I didn't understand what you meant about it. Clarify?
No pictures yet, but I've kept one cockerel from this year's crop, so I'll be looking for comments later about him. Only three pullets, and one of them is smaller. I have been culling for small size and assume that's a good idea. Yes?

I noted that it looked more Leghorn-ish (like many tend to). The longer tail and sickles were what made me say that, along with what looks like a lower angle. Could be just the pic, though, and he's very pretty either way.

Standard calls for medium length tail, which should be between the leghorn and the wyandotte types, and sickles that extend "slightly beyond the main tail feathers".

Take what I say with a grain of salt; I'm about as far from an expert as one can get.

That EE is too cute!

I got a small group of EE bantams last year from Cackle, and love them! He stayed with a couple of very cute hens, and this year some new offspring came along, and nice aqua blue eggs. Also slate legs on him, and some babies. It's love! Mary

They brighten up the whole yard and look really nice next to the Silver AMs that make up a larger percentage of the flock. Sort of like negative copies of the same breed.
