Chantecler Thread!

Pics
I posted this on the Heritage thread, but thought it needed to be on the Chantecler thread as well.

Note: Ideal Poultry Farms does sell the Patridge, Buff and Red Chanteclers, but one must order early as they sell out quickly.

And the Red Chantecler. This was a true Canadian development and not from Ideal Poultry Farms. Recieved this from the breeder this week, along with the photos.

Here are some of the dozen Red Chants we made last year (just a cross on buff and partridge, no magic there and none came from Ideal, my supplier of Chants is Glenn Drowns of Sand Hill!), actually many have the colour pattern like Campines as poults, the colour genetics in parts and buffs explain this outcome perfectly.

So cute and love the depth of colour! These birds are five months old in the pics. Note the genetic expression of the breast keel on the pullet in the last pic (side affect of pure pea comb as seen in Brahmas and Cornish).

. Now if I could keep these Beltsville White Turkeys from sitting at my front door pecking it that would be a miracle. We have pens that we can isolate birds into to breed if we so choose to though.

Here is a picture of our trio of Buff Chanteclers out foraging in the rain. They are still relatively young and the cockerels tail is still working on coming in.

Hi everyone, just found this thread. I will be getting Partridge Chanteclers from Mike Gilbert in the spring.

Hey all! I picked up an interesting roo recently that I plan on working with...a crele Chantecler! He came out of a partridge breeding, so we'll have to see what I end up with. I'll be putting him over white females (getting hatching eggs from Tony Albritton in March)...
