mine are on the small size yet, very round looking, can hardly tell they have a pointy end, I only have one buff hen but the only mating she'll see is from a buff Roo. Ive started gathering some of her eggs as I expect a Brinsea incubator in the mail by tuesday...yeah...

I see there is a hatchery that lists Red Chantecler.
I see a lot of information about Buffs. Lots of folks working on the variety. Is anyone breeding or working on the Red beside that hatchery? Any photos? What other colors are being developed? Is anyone breeding Buffs in the northeast? NY/Pa?

Ideal poultry Farms in Texas developed the Red Chantecler by crossing the Partridge with the Buff. It has a lot of work needed to perfect them.
 
I just ordered a good # of the red chantecler pullets and a few roos from Ideal. I'm really excited to work with these guys. I know they have a long way to go, but I was looking for another good dual-purpose breed for the farm and I think these will be a really nice project. They are my first ever chanteclers.. can't wait!!
 
I finally got my double-decker brooder finished today. It's sided with some o9ld barn wood scavenged from a neighbor. I put a bottom shelf on mine so I can store stuff up off the ground. And the top is vented in case it gets too warm inside. You can find the plans here on BYC, which is what I used, it's called the "Nellabean Brooder" you can also google it.
