Charcoal W/E Peacock

Deerman, I'll go outside tonight and look with a flashlite at their backs while they are roosting,,I gotta get my media card reader fixed so pictures can be taken and uploaded.I did look closely at the smaller of these two birds today,,she has more silver-gray feathers on her that the other,larger-taller one,and she has no barring in the gray colored feathers,,but the bigger one,,I'll have to examine more close.

Thats one thing silver pied got their name because the peahens have silver backs.

Remember if you put him with silver pied.hens. all chicks will be white eye.

All will be split charcoal......that means and white will be white eye too.

Them start. Breeding those young ..on yoir way to a RARE charcoal silver pied peacock

Deerman,,Jeanna told me to try and breed him this way last year,,she sent me a bunch of Silver Pied eggs,,but the hatchrate was poor,as with most everything last year,,but after checking my records, I have at least 2 silver pied hens,,possibly 3 if the other one is a female that I did hatch two years ago,,1 seems a little taller than the other 2,tail a little longer, spurs the same length as the two known hens,,I'm hoping in a few months I can tell for sure. But there is no barring on any of the silver feathers it has

Okay, got the scoop on my Charcoal W/E male,,his father is a Charcoal W/E-Pied,,and his mother is an India Blue W/E,split to Charcoal W/E,,and split to pied.Guess he carries 2 copies of the W/E gene himself.I think his harem will be with the silver pied hens I have.

ok first to clear one thing up, his mother IB W.E split charcoal (can't be split w.e.) you say split pied(guess no white flight) lot of mistake made here if from a pied some will be split white other split pied...trick is in the flights.

So he is charcoal w.e (2c) he could be dark pied with his mother. other than the low % of being dark pied. he is either split pied or split white.....not both(unless dp) check his flight feathers no white split pied, white flight split white.

Main reason to know...if split white mate to pied or split pied=pieds
if split pied mate to white or split white=pieds
but your safe with silver pieds as they carry both white and the pied genes, plus w.e.

big mistake new breeders make when they think they have split pied ...they keep chicks with white flights, really should keep some of each.

i did have the perfect hens for you ,but sold them all ... 25% and 50% spalding split charcoal and some split pied some split white

He is split pied. And he can have white flights without being split to white. We have several birds that are white eye that have white flights that are not split to white.

correct you are.......... w.e do have white flights that slip my chemo mind....good catch Jeanna

its the w.e. not split pied that shows the white flights

glad you caught that...here...
