Chat N Chicknfun Thread

Hello
frow.gif

Wow, what a day, Silver, you had your work cut out for you. I'm not setting eggs, but there were a couple of times today, I really got nervous for some folks, and it still sounds like gardeningmama is in a pickle. Sad to here about your babies though.

Bush, if I ever get out of chickens for eggs and meat I'm gonna get some of those "toys" you call chickens. I think you called them top notch or top hats or something. I would just want to play with them all the time. They are sharp and so sophisticated looking. hehee Man, if a dude went to a park with a couple of those hanging out, you talk about a chick magnet. He would have a lot of attention. I guess it could work for a woman too! Do you show them?

I heard from chicknfun today, she's slammed and the weather isn't helping her either.
I did go and get the chickies from the pen outside. Their broody Mom's came off of them 4 or 5 days ago, too crowded in the pens. It's been warm outside so I let them be. (Just over 2 weeks old). But, with this weather, cold air and rains, I didn't want to take a chance. I put them in our outdoor bathroom off our back porch. I think I'm gonna just keep them close until they are a few weeks older since Mommy's can't keep them warm. Looks like we are about to get really slammed with a very bad line of storms.

Now I'm hoping the Easter pullets will be OK. They are in secure pens about 18" off the ground. Could get 4 to 6 inches overnight. I'll probably be out there checking with a spot light just to make sure. Coops are dry enough, just don't need a flood. Might move them in the shed tomorrow if the rain looks like it's going to continue on in this mode.
Still hope to get pics Sunday.
Hope all is well.
It was a long day over there lol when i logged in at like 2-3 there were 125 posts i was like oh boy !! i was sad about my babies but am glad at least i got one out of the bunch .. he/she was well enough today it moved from the box i had it in to in with the silkie mixes all by itself ... i was like omg where is it did it die and get knocked out of the box .... nope it was snuggled in and blended with the other babies so i left them and gave t hem all a little antibiotics in the water just in case ... our water issues .. hope they all do okay .. that was the problem here it was rainy and a little cooler and FIL forgot not to cut off the switch when he left the shop ...

Yeah I read about the bator power snaf-fu. Bless your heart, I think that had to be tough to get through, he probably feels bad. Still. . .
Glad that your new baby has snuggled in so well. Those moments are so rewarding. You'll send pics our way too when you can I hope? Are you going to do the summary through the end of the Cinco hatching thread? I was just going to read up and see what was going on, but. . .I really learn alot on the threads. Learn about some unique characters too, hehee.

Cause of my lack of posting through the years. Guess it isn't just chickens I've been researching. I don't like to get invoved with alot of snarkasm (probably not a word, just came right from the heart, hehee).

I was very nervous when I posted gardenmama re her humidity issues. Noone had responded for quite a while. I went back through just to check on that situation so I could learn what to do. So, I wrote, right off the bat. . ."I'm not very experienced but try". . .ending with, "I'll see if I can find a moderator", and poof, Sally was back on line. Mitch was there too, so I guess it would be called, "bumping", her question/situation back to the top. It just got so
busy around that time, and her situation got lost in all the posts.

Of the few things I suggested, never thought it might be her hygro meter, duh. So I still learned something today. I'm glad so far, no one on these hatching threads has been snarky to me. Love hanging out and listening/learning from ya'll.
