Chat room for non religious poultry keepers! :D

First eggs are also notorious for not being fertile, so wait a couple of months and enjoy mini omelets, lol!

Oh I'm not letting them sit on their eggs, that's for sure. I'd be giving them Ursula's, and very soon Cruella's eggs to hatch, which will be fathered by their man (although now I guess he's their ex)

Goodness, 5 months is practically still a baby, lots of growing to do yet! I would probably not let them brood that young, either! I'd also be concerned about how committed they would be to the whole process. One of mine that I let brood young (I think she was around 9 months old?) was not great with the entire process and caused me a whole lot of stress while she was incubating and rearing her babies! Constantly letting the eggs roll out behind her in the nest, wanting to abandon her newly hatched babies for eggs, going to bed without leading her babies in with her so they were lost and cold, etc. :th Then again, the full adult hen out of the same line that I let brood this year was also terrible at mothering, so hard to say if that was age or genetics in my case, I suppose. 🤭
Most of mine weren't yet laying at 5 months. Actually, maybe none of them.
Enjoy their childhood - they are so fun and funny at that age. Waaay too young to become mothers.

Hmm, Cruella went broody at 6 months I believe, and she over-committed, which led to her quitting at 8 days (almost 2 weeks for her). Second time she went broody, she was 8 months. The brooding part wasn't a stroll in the park at first, but the mothering part was

My girl wasn't even laying at 6 months! She went into lay at a little after 7 months of age, then broody a couple months later. Maybe her problem was that it was her first go at it. 🤔

Mine haven't been until this year, holy cow! My Cochins typically don't lay until 8-9 months of age, but this year I have several laying at a little over 5 months of age. :th

Does anyone here use makeup like as a normal, daily thing?

I do not, but I hope you can find your answers. :fl
