Chat room for non religious poultry keepers! :D

Yes, exactly!! It's unnerving enough to have someone else opening my coops, but I go out of my way to make sure I am always home for coop closing. There's just too much to mess up with that and that could cost my birds their lives with all the predators in these woods here. Last time I ran late to get home from a day trip and got home after sunset, I was straight up in a panic attack until I made sure all my birds were closed up safe. :th

It usually is a ton of fun! My mom comes with every year and I think she gets sick of me chewing her ear off about all the different breeds by the end 🤭

I know it's not the same as actually attending, but I can try to take a ton of pictures to share :hugs Any requests? I can't guarantee that anything in particular will actually be there, but I'll try to get a bunch of pictures of the ones that I do come across.
Modern game (either size) and Cornish bantams if there are any?

It has been hard for me to be gone for A WEEK! We're going home tomorrow, and I can't wait to be home. It's a 13-14 hour drive :tongue and I am NOT looking forward to it. With two drivers, it's totally doable, but all that sitting! :barnie

I miss my chickens...:hit

I do not envy you for that drive, nor being away for a week! :hugs My coops are not set up well for such trips, a lot of recycling and cobbling together out there, so I couldn't even ask anyone to watch them for that long!

Ugh, the driving! Even the much shorter by comparison trip that I have is awful. I always feel like my legs have to relearn how to walk after that long of a trip! 🤭

If we lived closer, I would offer to watch over the chickens for you. I am quite anal about how they are taken care of; I do not leave them unattended, morning or night, until I see that there is peace and safety within the flock.

That would be amazing! :love Unfortunately, people around here are of the mindset that they're just chickens you can replace at TSC in the spring for a few bucks, so outside of my family I have no one to turn to.

Is your chosen coop-caretaker already a chicken tender? 😊

Kind of, she's my 14-year-old niece who has lived here and been around the chickens all her life. She should do fine, she just has trouble remembering very specific instructions, so things like the pen that Roscoe is in that he'll push open and escape out of if you don't close it just right are... well, another thing for me to worry about. 😅 But I think she'll do okay, or at least I'm confident everyone will survive one day if things are set up weird. :fl

Oh my gosh, so kind of you to take some of your free time at the National to take pics for us! Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU❤️. I do have two requests. Serama and aseel/shamo. I know you're just as bantam obsessed as me, so I'm expecting many bantam photos as well, but that's more generic

Oh, of course! I usually take a lot of pictures anyway, so it's no added burden on me or anything! 🙂 And this year I have a newer phone that should actually be able to handle me taking a bunch of pictures instead of the crappy old one I had last year that died if I even opened the camera app :yesss:

I know I've seen Serama there every year I've gone, so I should be able to grab a few shots of them! I'll keep an eye out for Aseel/Shamo as well :fl

I think my pictures are generally almost entirely of bantams, so no worries there! 🤣

Oh and phoenixes

Noted! 😁 There's a Phoenix club having a meet there so there ought to be plenty of them entered, and there's always a ton of Modern game bantams if nothing else!

Can you ziptie a note about Roscoe to the door so she sees it when she closes them for the night?

Oh, she's only opening for the day, not closing that night! It's just that the pen Roscoe goes into during the day is not in the best shape so it's kind of tricky to get closed. He is kind of in this limbo state because I want to integrate him into my big mixed flock, but he doesn't get along super well with one of the other roosters already in there, so I put him in a little pen in the run so that he and said other rooster can't fight while I'm not around to intervene. I tried to take some detailed pictures of it this morning, so hopefully she can see well enough from that how it hooks closed. :fl

Yup! And this time, babies that are actually related to her! You know how much I adore Cruella, so needless to say I'm VERY excited to meet her offspring. And it's probably just her offspring, since I doubt Ursula can fly that high. Oh by the way, I don't remember if I've mentioned anything about Ursula brooding. If I haven't, we'll she's been brooding on a ground nest for about a week

Yup! Lady Gaga

. He's less than 6 months old ( I believe, I've slightly lost track) and he has already experienced things that Kolovos (the three year old male) hasn't! It'll definitely be interesting to see how they develop. And yeah, I'll definitely be up to my ears with chicks with these three. And to think that I have three hatches planned for next year!
