Checking interest in importing birds from Thailand

I live in Chiang Mai in Northern Thailand. We have lots of the green peafowl at my local temple. I love going up there to feed them. They also have red jungle fowl, native ducks and even a huge python and 3 crocodiles.

I tired keeping a pair of the green peafowl, but my neighbor went nuts and I had to take them back to the temple - even through they hardly made any noise. My neighbor likes to go crazy over everything!

Hello
I think you mean Wat Doi Saket with his small zoo. In this wat zoo they keep only mixed peafowl they have not one pure green.
Best wishes from
Doi Saket

I'm going to make this really simple. To me, doing this is a business decision. Let's start with the numbers. Friedrich just informed me that the cost to import 5 pairs of birds is $18,000 USD.

My cost is $2000 a pair, shipped.

It helps to have someone on the ground to put deals together.

I give you in a privat message this price one pair 1200 Dollar and for shipping around 800 Dollar for one peafowl including all expense, when you buy 5 pair or more
5 pair are 6000 Dollar with 8000 Dollar for shipping this are 14.000 Dollar and not 18.000 US Dollar

The price was include all documents from Thailand and 4 weeks in quarantine in my breeding station
I have to pay here for one IATA shipping box mor than 100 Dollar for 100 birds 1000 Dollar
For the documents all I have to go a lot to the goverment, they like to see us every time.
The birds goeing Chiang Mai via Bangkok to LA

Here in Thailand is nothing for free we have to pay for all a lot
30 kg peacock food 14 Euro for pigeon food 50kg 22 Euro
When I want buy here one pair Palawan Peacock Pheasants without permit I have to pay 2000 Euro also for Malaysian Peacock Pheasant or Rothschilds, Borneo fire back pheasants 1800 Euro one pair Hume 800 Euro. One Pair Pavo muticus muticus around 1800 Euro and they are not pure. Here the reality is different than you imagine
If I see this all I'm way too cheap with our pure birds with different bloodlines

That is the temple. Are you sure they are not pure green? I took photos of them and compared them to images on the internet and they seemed pure to me, but I am no expert. I had an adult pair, not chicks. Think they came from the big botanical gardens near the temple. The others were donated from a woman who lives near the reservoir - she hundreds of birds - amazing to see. I wish I could have bough a lot more!

To leo7; In my opinion you sound mighty shady and at the very least desperate to get business to me. I already know I wouldnt make a deal with you.But hey to each his own. First you tell peadaddy one price then dont want him post price. Then you say another price when you find out he may get them at lower price. Then you automatically positive the birds of Wat Doi Saket not pure. Also you make it sound like you have only ones that pure. On that comment I quess you all have the same exact problem as we do in the USA with trying to aqquire pures now. To Peadaddy: Again I truly hope you get pures from over there and I hope it all works out for you.

I think peadaddy has not counted the numbers together correctly.

Here on this website the first picture is from Wat Doi Saket
http://www.pavo-muticus.com/english/among-breeders/artenvergleich.html

On this website you can see my peacocks and when you know a little from peacocks you see that they pure species F 1 and F2 from the jungle

Maybe they make once the trouble and study both websites from me

A DNA test will tell if India blue and green is crossed. But as far as I know there is no such test for figuring out sub-species crossing. Other than saying well he "looks more " like a Java muticus muticus than an imperator in so thats what he must be.Or vice versa. People cant even agree with how many subspecies there are at this point. As long as pure green of any sub-species dont get anymore crossed with blues thats about the best we can ask for now. And if you want a pure sub-species you are just gonna have to"look" at what standards the bird has the most of. Edited To Leo7. Ill leave that up to him. I just know how I see it now. I dont exactly understand what you mean by you saying"maybe they make once the trouble and study both websites from me. I take it you mean yours are the pure ones and all the others not perhaps? Also Im not doubting your birds are not pure either.I also dont know who peadaddy is getting them from at this point. If its you, Wat Doi Sakat or somebody entirely different .Also Im just wondering if there is more than just the one green peacock you posted on your webpage from Wat Doi Saket or pehaps the one Jak2002003 is talking about is another one and it is indeed a pure one. There may be lots of pure ones at Sakat and you took a photo of one that wasnt for all I know. But This is something we see over here alot!!! Even at the same farm that raise pure greens there can be mixes .
