I did see the first page, if you are citing the fact that PeaDaddy claims he has "relationships" and can get "waivers."
Perhaps he does.

I'm going to bow out of the thread at this point. I have read all of the posts, and understand the negativity. I appreciate the support. The thread has served its purpose; gauging interest in importing birds from Thailand. There is substantial interest.

I am now going to set about making this transaction happen. I believe in the people that we work with, both here, and in Thailand. I am confident that we will get the highest quality birds for the best price. My prediction is that we will have Thai birds on the ground by the middle of 2013.

Other interested buyers can contact me via PM with any questions.

Cheers!

And if you want a pure sub-species you are just gonna have to"look" at what standards the bird has the most of.

Hello destinduck,
exactly this was made in Germany the last twenty years. But when we are really want to make conservation breeding, than this is the wrong beginning for the start of a serious conservation breeding program. In all Asian countries the green peafowls are having the same three problems
1. Hunting
2. Destroying of nature habitat
3. Indian peafowl or spalding birds which are released to the wild

If we want to start with conservation breeding we have to look for birds where you know exact the history and the nature habitat where they are coming from. All this will cost a lot of money and you need trusty people in these countries which are having a real interest in conservation breeding.
But when I read

“That said, our Thai client feels that he can find a better price for the birds, and will keep me updated as things develop.”

then I have not a good feeling. The problem is without conservation breeding for the different sub-species the last existing sup-types will be lost in short time. The extinct once we cannot bring back, but we can conserve others which still exist.

Regards
Reinhold
