Chest

Also how do I get them to stop jumping and smacking themselves agaisnt the sides of the brooder box, they now have what look like fleshy wounds next to their eyes on the sides of their head
Can you post photos of your brooder setup and their eyes?

How many chicks do you have?

How warm is the brooder on the hot side and cool side?

80.00° f because this is the end of the second week and first week was staying between 90 and 95 so at end of that week lowered by 5 to 85 now to 80. I try to give them cool hiding spot but doesn’t like it I only have 1 as that’s the amount that hatched and I can’t get more till I know the gender since once they are older they will go to my aunt who only wants one male will get brooder picks later. These picks are from another post I made about it they are fleshy and they won’t let me touch them and they have only been there a few days. I sleep next to the brooder and during the day I have to make them sleep because I don’t have a heat pad so the uv light stays on. It was hard to take the photos of him/her because they kept moving their head and trying to get out of my grasp while I was taking the photo

I see next to no ventilation in that brooder. In fact there's condensation in the bottom right corner of the first photo.

The cool spot shouldn't be a hiding spot, it should be at least half the brooder.

You really need to open it up and have at least the top or one whole wall as wire mesh, and reduce the amount of heat so it's only on one side.

Because it has no companions a mirror or maybe a small plush toy can help subsitute for one.

There is infact ventilation, the condensation was because of something that happened and i had the sides open slightly to give extra air, I often bring them out, they have a stuffed lamb and a mirror and a hanging toy but seems to like the toy most, I also take him out often if only to make him sleep in a “nest” covered by something that makes it dark since he never sleeps in the brooder. Most I could do to reduce heat on one side would be to remove on of the UV lightbulbs but then the other one would have to work harder to Lee the hot side normal temp. He’s currently asleep in a basket covered with a blanket

If the chick is slamming itself against the side of the brooder, it is probably too hot and it is trying to get out. Why are you trying to make it sleep during the day? If it is comfortable and well fed it will nap off and on throughout the day without your help and it will sleep at night as nature intended, when it is dark.
