I'm told he has to be penned or somehow contained for 4 weeks before I can think about free ranging him or he will just take off never to be seen again. I am also told that during wild turkey breeding season he will have to be penned or he might make off with a wild hen never to be seen again. The turkey people are telling me I need 2 hens *eeek* DH was already quite unhappy with 1 tom, imagine if I have to tell him, Oh by the way, we need 2 hens now too?! I'm hoping he takes to this leash thing well so maybe in the future I could put him out on a line like a dog.

no problem.

Chickie'sMoma :

ChickMagnet, i was able to win those frizzled polish bantam eggs! 6+ (hoping for 7 or 8 and none broken along the way!)

let's hope i have some extra chicks i can trade or sell at some upcoming shows.

here's what i have going in my bator right now: 4 bantam salmon faverolles & 12 bantam polish-mixed colors, everyone seems to be developing.

what i have on the way: 8+ standard faverolles, 6+ SQ bantam polish-splash, blues, blacks, and the 6+ frizzle bantam blue polish.

is there a main link to all the upcoming shows? i'm looking at going to some in may or june with the birds i don't need, and some of the craft items and plants we may have by then.

now i know why everyone says they are addictive. i have 3 chicks now and I WANT MORE!!!

I orginally only wanted 2 chickens. they grow on you. do pm chickn to get on the list. she will take good care of you oh, see you already did

hey all, can i get some feedback on this swap please

like was it a good location for you>?
we are thinking of an april 25th date,

just wondered if maybe we should do a sept one , go there 2 times far spread> what r u all thinking?

I really enjoyed going to this one. It was my first time. I met some really nice people and even bought a buff silkie rooster from Vermont. They were very nice people there and was very busy. I would like to see them happen every month or two. We have been here in NH all winter at my daughters. They don't have these in Maine where I live.

love, love, LOVED the location.

I also think an April (25th) one would be great too. I wonder how we can get more people to attend? I loved meeting everyone, and making new friends. I didn't even come home with chickens, but I did find homes for 2 roosters. next time......chickens are coming home with me. LOL

isnt there already a swap planned at Milford TSC for the 26th of April?

I mean I am all for Chicken Stocks, but two in one weekend at locations relatively close to one another might be a "bit" much

yes there is one in milford on the 26th, but we can do this, we have people who do travel all over for these,
I can do 2 in one weekend not a problem, but see I am close to milford , like 5 minutes, and to travel the day before to chichester is an easy jaunt for me,40 minutes each way.
some cant make both shows and the ones further north will benifit from the northern swaps as the southern ones benifit from the southern swaps.
I dont mind going both ways right now but after surgery may have to skip a couple of the further away ones. but no surgery can keep me down for long lol.

The Chichester location was great! Too bad the sun didn't cooperate. Being from central NH, I'm hoping the next time Tilton TSC decides to host a swap it doesn't conflict with any others. Looking forward to seeing some familiar faces in Merrimack this weekend.
