I second this - be absolutely certain of what you are seeing before you cull. Can you show a pic?

ETA - If you do a search for baking soda & vinegar, this is a humane way to do this without having to go through the kitchen shears thing. The shears are also quick (if they're very sharp), but I personally don't think I could do it. I have done the baking soda thing.

Every thread I've read where the baking soda method has been used has turned out badly. The chick has taken 15 minute or more to expire. The shears are hard for us, but I believe that they are much more humane for the chick.

If positive of NO vent, shears or scissors. Its hard to do personaly! But it is the quickest least suffering way to do it! at least for the chick anyway.

Good Luck and God Bless!!!

I'm sorry, it's my computer (too pixalated for me too see clearly). I'm not saying you're wrong, birth defects do happen. Try seperating it for a few hours (on a white paper towel), it should have a bm by then. If not, if you are totally sure, then cull. But if it was mine, I'd wait a few hours first. Please keep us updated, and if anybody else can see the pic more clearly, tell us what you see. The vent will be right under the tail, in the fuzz area.

What's that red area towards the top of the pic? That's about where the vent would be but it's hard to tell. I would leave it until it dries and double-check just to be sure. Scissors are the way to go. Position them, cover with a paper towel (over and under) and just do it but do be sure.

I agree, but want to add cleaning the bum with a warm, damp towel might help. I'm pretty sure I do see a vent.
