Chick Dies in Shell on Day of Hatch

we had 4 die in there shells.........................................really sad.....

I have had this happen too this year already. No explination.
I now candle my eggs right up to lockdown to make sure they
are alive at that point. When they start to pip, I really watch close
and if there is little or no progress, I help. If they have not pipped
and are supposed to, I will do a quick candle to check for life.
I just did this with 8 duck eggs. One had pipped the pointed end
of the egg and needed help.Some of the others made it out all on
their own and a couple needed a little help. All 8 are alive.

That's a good thing to do. Mine actually did reach the pippin stage, and died the next day. Today we found it out of the shell....still dead. Apparently the mother hen took it out of the shell. She wouldn't let us touch it.
