chick doing weird mouth thing

One of my month-old BRs is doing something strange. She walks around and occasionally opens her mouth as if to holler, but no sound comes out. I sent my DD in for the otoscope so I could take a look, but by the time the tool was found and brought out, baby had gone underneath mama and I couldn't sort out who was doing the weird mouth thing.

Did she have something stuck? My DH says maybe "she" is trying to crow. Heaven forbid, but that would be better than something dangerous for baby BR!

she was probally panting. they do that when they get too hot-just like a dog would.

I've noticed all of my birds doing the same thing, as if they are "gulping". My girls do it when it's cool and hot, so I don't think they are panting. I think maybe they are gulping air to help things go down better.
