Chick has a weird thing on its belly

I am hatching chicks, and chick number three has what looks like a teenager’s pimple.
It took it a long while to get out of its egg, (2+hours) so I helped it crack the eggshell, any chance I did it?

Congrats on your chick! No you didn’t do it. It’s just the umbilical area where the chick absorbed the yolk. It should recede and go down. Just keep an eye on it to make sure it’s kept clean and that no other chicks peck the area.

Thanks, mate. I didn’t see it on the others, probably because I didn’t look well enough. Hahaha . I thought for a moment it was it’s belly button, but then I remembered birds don’t have belly buttons. Guess I remembered wrong

They don’t have a button as such but it is where the umbilical cord was attached so it could absorb the yolk prior to hatch. Some you see and some you don’t.
