My 12th baby hatched today around 3:30 pm and it's 9 pm now. It has been peeping and breathing and looks completely normal.

The problem is I noticed his foot is not right. All the other chicks have the normal 4 toes with the one in back and the one long one. this chick's toes are deformed on one foot. It's one toe is so long it's curled over and the toe that's suppose to be in the back isn't. He has been up and trying to walk around and jump. He can stand okay but when he starts to walk he falls down and holds up his foot. I am concerned he won't be able to walk and will die because of this. I also noticed a little tiny yellow yolk sack left in the egg. Very small but it wasnt in the other eggs. The chick looks normal and i can see his yolk in him its just that one foot. Is this normal? Will he learn to adapt? Anyone else seen it?

It sounds as though the toes are curled, which can be corrected with a boot. Take a look at this link and she has instructions on how to correct it if that is indeed what it is. http://www.the-chicken-chick.com/2012/02/spraddle-leg-in-baby-chicks-what-is-it.html

Just leave him alone for now. The yolk sack will absorb in a few hours. The foot is probably a hatch humidity issue so leave it be for now. When the chicks come out of the incubator you might want to splint the toes.

And the stuff left in the egg was probably just egg goo. Sometimes it's more prominent in some than others. As long as it was left in the egg with nothing still attatched and no bleeding it should be good.

That's what I figured, thanks! I'm anxious to get the splint on him/her tomorrow. Poor thing keep flopping over and just laying on it's side

I wrapped the little baby's toes/foot up. Her toe in the middle is very long and the one to the right is so tiny and so short. the one to the left is shorter as well but longer than the tiny one. Her foot just seems so messed up and I put a little sandal on it with vet wrap and did it perfectly but the little thing just seems so weak and is struggling so much to walk. Do you think the chick just needs to rest to gain more strength and get use to the splint? The splint is definitely done right and perfect it's just that her toes are so messed up and now I'm worried it's her leg too that's causing her to struggle as much as she is

Good job on the boot. I would either use some water with sav a chick (electrolyte) in it, or some sugar water and make sure he/she is drinking. I'm assuming he can't get to the water on his own, so you'll need to dip the tip of his beak in a little capfull of water (careful not to get it in his nose) or try a feeding with a dropper of water. He probably would benefit most from the sav a chick.
