Chick hatched with yolk sac attached...should i try to trim it?

Mine didn't survive because the sac was broken
Remove him from the incubator immediately
You don't want other chicks to beak its sac
Roll a towl around it then put it in a small box with enough vent holes and put the whole thing in the incubators, not gonna say it works but thats all you can do
There's a low chance that the chick will absorb the sac
Older one is getting boob warmth till i can throw a brooder together (wasnt expecting to take him out early).. the yolk is now ruptured bc ANOTHER chick hatched and must have hit it. :(

I've got the same thing. She's 28 hours old. In my case the mama and siblings no doubt ruptured it because there was yolk and blood in the nest and when I came in and found her they were feasting on all that. Right now looks like intestines hanging out about the size of small marble that has begun to dry. I have no idea what's going to happen but from what I'm reading on here it sounds like she won't make it. She's sleeping indoors on heat pad and I'm applying iodine three times a day and she's bandaged. It's so upsetting bc she's so beautiful.

did your chick make it? crazy cuz im holding mine that way too to try and soothe her and get her to stay still and warm. can't tell if mine has any intestines protruding or not. yolk sac is large and can't see inside properly

No she passed at two days of age. She never really even opened her eyes. If your chick was just hatched and the yolk sac hasn’t broken then apparently you sit them upright in a cup with a wet moistened paper towel under them and keep them in a humid area like bathroom with shower on (I think this is right about the humidity but may want to ask in case). They can still continue to absorb the yolk sac. I found all this out after my chick died. It wouldn’t have helped mine anyway bc the yolk was burst bc the mama hen thought it was food for the other chicks. She kept pulling at the red string and it did appear to be intestines on mine. What I read is if the yolk is attached try the cup thing to absorb it. If it is burst there is minimal chance to make it.

ETA sorry I thought you had responded to me.
