I have a chick that is about a week old.
My husband often says he thinks she's dead. But as soon as I touch her she acts okay.
She's eating a drinking.
She is sleeping on her side with legs sprawled out, or on her back.
Even in my hand, she sleeps like this.

I've never had a chick do this, and I'm just wondering if she is sick or if maybe she needs warmer temps?
The other chicks are fine.

Hi. I was just on here reading about sleeping chicks. Apparently this is very normal. We just got 15 RIRs today and I just about had a heart attack when I went to check on them and a couple were on their belly face down in their bedding. From what I have read on here what you and I both have seen is completely normal. But dang if it don't scare me to death!

I know being on the belly like that is normal.
This one is on her back and sides, very unusual.

I have a 5 week old chick who did this. For the first week he would lie on his back when he fell asleep, and seemed unable to get up when he woke up. Thankfully he grew out of it after about the first week.
