Chick Pics for New 2 and Our Chart

It is correct, if you can download the pic you can enlarge it further and then you'll see the stripes on the male who is on the rt. I'm sorry, I don't have any pics that show both of them closer. The mantel in photo # 2 really shows the stripes. I have a SP male right now that hatched in May, I'm gonna go out and see if I can get some close-ups of his back.

OK, thank you. I see the barring, but didn't you tell me last year that the pattern, (my term for that pattern on the back is 'sharks tooth') means male?

Here's a better picture, this is a SP hen with her 4 chicks, 1 white, one IB split white, and 2 SP a male and female. This is a baby pic of the male you were interested in last year. Notice the complete lack of striping on the hen chick's mantel. Just those gray looking feathers.

Close-up of that male(middle) shows the stripes on the mantel.

female as an adult

Must have been someone else that told you that, this is the first I've heard the term "shark's tooth".

That really puts it into perspective and helps a lot. I see how it develops now, thank you.

That's because I made it up!

It is that pattern of tan triangles that I thought you told me to look for on a Black Shoulder that tells male.

I called that "lacing" like on a chicken, and I never even thought of that for the SP in Picture #1 because it is not a BS. You must have made up the "shark tooth" thing after our discussion because I would remember it, I collect large shark teeth. What's going to happen when we get really old???

We'll act like Canadians setting around with our ear horns saying, "Eh?"

Or we will say things like 'Remember that time when we, ah, we, ah,... what?'

Anyway, you sure helped me with this SP sexing, I have orders for birds and I don't want to misrepresent a bird or sell something I want to keep. I sold a pair of Purple BS that I was positive of the sex, but the gal lit up the FB page asking for reassurances. She got it but it made me question myself for a while.

Great pictures you guys, sorry I am so far behind posting these on the Image Database!

I will definitely need to do some double checking on colors/patterns before I label these peababies...I'm definitely out of my depth here!

Well, yeah, where you been?

When in doubt, ask.

OK, first I'm backtracking to check about some old labeling...

Do we know if this guy is Cameo WE or Cameo Pied WE?

BS or Cameo BS?

Loud Pied or SP?

Do we still think he's a IBWE?

more soon...
