I was thinking if it were bobwhite, they are notorious for pecking..hmm I cant think of anything disease's that kills that quick in baby chicks, even what I call starve outs(chicks that dont learn to eat/drink) makes it past 4 days,

We got the Sulmet early this morning, added it to their water, and they are doing great. Acting normal and healthy, and no more deaths, yesterday they were droping off like flies. I still have my orps. seperated just in case, but they are on the sulmet too.
Did you lose anymore overnight? Would the Sulmet stop Cocci that quick?
What was the total number of birds lost and in what time period did you
lose them?
Did the state vet come today and what is she vaccinating your birds for?

Nope, I didn't loose any over night, thankfully. I did read the the Sulmet does stop the Cocci that quick, but I also have to start them on medicated feed because the Sulmet only lasts for 6 days, and they can get the Cocci again. I lost 3 sultans, 1 blue orp., and 2 polish in an 18-12 hour period, it moves quick, so the Sulmet is a really good thing to have on hand. The state vet is either coming tomorrow or Thursday, she is suppose to call us tomorrow to tell us what time. Since I show my birds they have to identified and test negative for Salmonella pollorum within 365 days of the show date. They are also tested for the Avian Flu, and they also get a vaccine to prevent both the avian flu, and the pollorum. I also have to get my ducks, and guineas banded, but they don't have to be tested.
PC let me know when you want to split the order of meat birds, we can get them whenever you guys are ready, have you decided on what kind; the cornish x's or the fryers?
I'm thrilled you got that situation under control PP and it didn't spread
through the flock. I may be wrong but I believe once Cocci is present it
doesn't go away so you will have to watch future birds close.
We had bloody poop a few times but never lost a bird or showed any symptoms.
Usually giving more grit or stopping certain treats fixed the problem. I have
Terramycin + a wormer onhand but no Sulmet. You've motivated me to pick
some up.
As for the meat birds I'll let you know. I always wanted to try Rangers but with
all the drama with them I'm not really sure what to do. Plus I think we need to
order 50. I'd like to split an order of 25. If we get them by the end of July we
can process the first week of October when it cools down some. Actually we
should order them so we have them for the coop party. Maybe Moodusnewchick
or Moosehill would want some so we can get a bigger order. It's cheaper that
way too.

I just checked and I can get 25+ fryers for $13.50 for the week of the 7th, that would work perfectly, but are fryers any good? Or we can get 25-50 of the cornish x's delivered the same week.
