Here we go again!

Got 7 chicks for you guys to throw your guesses at. This is not my first rodeo with raising chicks and if you followed my original run, I was really unlucky with the Roosters (6 R/9 H). It's time again to have a guess - I'm well aware that attempting to sex them this early is near impossible, but I love speculating and staring at their combs.

I will post weekly progress like I did in my last post like this so people can see their progression for themselves. Also, these are all mixes except for the Ayam Cemani, so good luck with your guessing!

3 Weeks old -

I think some are pretty obvious already, little rascals!

Yeah I'm thinking that too to be honest :D I'd love for the Grey one to be a hen too :fl but nature do nature things! We'll see :D

Here's the chicks (all 5 weeks old).

1 and 4 - I'm not sure about these two, any ideas of sex?

Chicks 2 and 5 are defintively cockerels. Their combs are large, wattles are bigger than everyone else's and they are both really coming in red. This is how they both look.

I also believe chick 7 to be a roo since it's really slow to feather and has some redness coming in on the wattles.

Chick 3 (Cream) is probably a hen. Small/no comb and very pale all over.

Chick 6 (Ayam/Black) might be a hen too, it's got hardly any comb or wattles, and obviously I can't tell the redness of the comb/wattles due to breed. Also, havent managed to get a photo of it, its very fast!

Wyandottes are known for reddening fast so I wouldn't count on it being a cockerel yet. The only obvious cockerel I see is the one right above the Wyandotte.

Oh really? It's very small compared to the other birds too, and slow feathering. It's the feathering really that led me to believe it might be a roo since all my previous slow featherers turned out that way. I've never had a Wyandotte before though, so maybe! I'll update in a few weeks!

How fast or slow a chick feathers really isn't an indicator of sex unless specifically bred for it.

All are 6 weeks old.

Black/Ayam cemani (thinking this is a cross, has a strange head quiff and the comb isn't a single as expected, also has white leakage on wings but i wouldnt breed anyway so no biggie for me):

The Wyandotte (last in list) and the Spitzhauben (first in list) have me the most worried about possibly being Roosters. What do you think? 😊

Obviously the two black ones are looking like lads since their combs and wattles are all red and mahoosive lol but not too sure about the rest 😁
