Chick speaking inside egg, how long to hatch ?

I am in the same condition as before, One of them peeping all the time, I can hear him "tick tick" trying to pip the shell, all other 19 look really lifeless at the moment

no movement, no peeping. Not sure if I should be concerned about them. It has been 20 days and 8 hours. Can't sleep waiting anxiously.

Well, If it makes you feel any better, I'm at 21 days and around 9 hours. Just give it some more time. I've got my second one that just pipped. My second egg didn't move or chirp like my first one did, so it really surprised me by pipping at all:) Keep me posted!

Thanks IowaBlueMama That actually gives me a lot of hope and I think by this time tomorrow my 20 will be in a much more enjoyable condition, will keep you posted.

Thanks

Ok, Here's another question... I know the process of the getting out of the shell can take up to 24 hours and I know that they will have rest periods during all of this. Nothing has happened in over two hours now. Is that a normal rest period? I haven't heard peeping or anything and have just assumed they are sleeping and resting up to try again. Would that be a good assumption? They pipped around 3:30 central time today and nothing has changed since then... Just wondering.

How is the chick doing now? Any progress?

Ok so after about 8 hours of sleep I woke up today expecting something exciting, but its all the same :(, the egg that was peeping, I had made a hole to its fat end before I went to sleep, It is still in the exact same condition, speaks loudly if you pick it up or touch but no marks whatsoever of any pip yet, all other 19 eggs haven't also shown any progress. More worried than I was tomorrow.

I think let's give this little one a few more hours and then see if you need to help it hatch. As long as it's lively though, it's good.

HELP!!

I am uploading a photo of the chick that has been peeping for more than 24 hours but not able to pip. I had made a hole on the fat end of the egg about 10 hours ago, and now I widened the hole a bit. I can see the beak, it had already made the internal pip, Can someone take a look at the photo and advise me, I have put him back in the bator. she just keeps on moving her beak. The beak is right in the centre of the opening, a yellowish triangle.

They usually take a few hours after pipping externally to zipping. The external pip allows them to get some fresh air while they are waiting out the yolk absorption process. Sometimes chicks progress very quickly after external pip, but they often take their time and drive us completely mad and make us worry! As long as the little one is showing signs of live and is breathing o.k. it's fine though. You'll notice it starting to get antsy when it's ready to zip.
