it migth just fall off but i think you should help the other guy befor any other damage happins and while he is still alive be carefull wih the membrane dohSo I woke up this morning with one zipped and an hour later, he is out and moving all around great. He does have a little string of membrane still stuck to the egg. Should I cut that off and remove the egg shell? Also, the second egg is the same as it was last night. It first pipped around 3:30 or 4pm yesterday. It's still alive, but isn't making progress. Do I wait longer or try to help now? It hasn't been a full 24 hours yet, but wasn't sure what to do since it hasn't made progress in over 9 hours. Thanks for your help.
I'd rather let that piece of membrane break by itself. It usually doesn't take very long. The second one, if you decide to help: remove a bit of the shell and dampen the inner membrane first. Check for blood vessels. If you see any active vessels put it back in the incubator and wait at least 2-3 hours before continuing. If the membrane is clear work your way down to the chick's belly area and check for any vessels or sign of unabsorbed yolk there. Sometimes the rest of the membrane will be clear and you will find some active vessels down there still. If the belly (navel) area is clear you can remove enough of the shell and membrane to allow the chick to kick out and hatch by itself. So I woke up this morning with one zipped and an hour later, he is out and moving all around great. Quote: The inner membrane (wrapped around the chick, not the one under the shell) should be clear when wet. If there is active vessels you'll spot them easily.
show a pic of what you did if theres no vains or blood vessels in the membrane just peel it back a bit keep it moist wet your fingers only sligthly with not to hot or cold water dont put a drop on him doh just rub a bit on the membrane so he dosnt srink wrapOk, I just zipped the egg myself, but didn't tear the membrane at all. Do you think it can get out the rest of the way? I'm too scared to mess with the membrane. It's back in the incubator and I'm hoping it comes out soon.
