CHICK W/ SEVERELY BROKEN LEG! PLEASE HELP!!!!!!! (PICS & VIDEO!!)

BTW, Auburn is a wonderful clinic for animals. I took my newborn foal there three years ago. He was born lame with a septic hock. They did surgery, and had him on ABT. They said he would always be lame, but now he is a healthy sound colt. Nice. I'd recommend them to anyone.

First...welcome to the group!

Glad you found us.

Now, regarding AU, all joking aside, I too would recommend them for their vet services concerning the well being of any animal, domestic or wild

, that is, if you are close enough for it to be practical. In my humble opinion their vet program is second to none!

Enough of that, already.

Also, good luck with your compound fracture. That really sounds like a challenge.

I did not mean to get your hopes up, the DH was giving his opinion, unfortunately for Oreo, not offering up his services. DH knows I love my girls, but he doesn't believe in chicken intervention...I'm sorry!

Just wanted to post a follow up on the progress of my chick and his leg. It has not been able to use the fractured leg dispite the wrapping for stabilization. And he has started pecking at it as I've noticed a spot of blood on the dressing. Also it leans up against something when still on it's good side to keep upright. It is hopping around on that one good leg dispite the fact the foot is damaged and has turned inward. But has a good appitite, intakes fluids and has good solid poop. But have started on a oral antiobiotic as it seems abit congested, perhaps wheezing some. But the chick certainly as personality and loves company & baby talk to it. cherps back. So until something else happens, just call me a mama hen.
BTW, cant get it to try eggs of any type, scrambled or boiled. loves its chick scratch & starter, but no people food. have carried outside for adventures in the flower bed, heaven but not able to dig.

JanJan 1, Your chick sounds exactly like Oreo! More than likely his leg will fall off too. As far as re-introducing Oreo to the flock..... I tried and no one would accept him. Not even his own mom. So hopefully as Oreo matures s/he will be able to fend for himself. Otherwise I will have a good guard chicken. LoL. Thanks for the replies everyone!! Keep them coming and hopefully tomorrow I can upload more pics and video.

Sorry it has been so long since I have updated everyone. Oreo and I have been very busy. Since my last post Oreo became the mascot for the Jefferson county 4H. While wearing the 4H outfit I made her, Oreo attended a earth day celebration at the botanical gardens in Birmingham and also the Auntie Litter parade to support going green. Sadly, she passed away in her sleep a few nights ago. I do not know the cause of death as she seemed perfectly healthy, but I know she went peacefully and that she was given a longer life than what she would have had in the wild. Losing Oreo has been hard and I hope no one else has to go through that any time soon. This will probably be my last post about Oreo unless anyone has questions. God bless.
