chick with bad leg

I bought a 2 day old chick. One leg has odd brown spots on it and chick won't stand up...any idea what could be wrong?

check and see if the toes are curled under, and look at the back of the "knees" for redness or soreness.

this is usually caused by dry hatch, or low temp in the incubator. sometimes it happens with late hatchlings too.

your chance of saving it is slim but possible. add some sugar to its water to help it get hydrated. some sav-a-chick may help too.

if it survives and is a hen, you shouldn't breed it, but it will be ok for egg laying.

Lost the chick this morning but thanks for the advice. I will keep it in mind if I get another like that.
