Chick with broken leg- please help!!

If you can get free vet care take it!
You may want to splint the leg on the individual bone. I'm thinking so it can still bend its knee and ankle. Make sure those don't get stiff.
Is there any way to avoid it getting stiff? I'm worried because last night when I checked it felt as though it was starting to lock in place so I'm assuming it's because it is being held in one place and is starting to heal? (And I'm sorry guys if I don't reply right away because I'm in class right now :) )

Keeping the joint moving will help. Obviously you don't want to move the possible break.
Chicks can slip a tendon... if it's not a break that could be the problem.

Check that link out...
I'm sorry if I'm asking too many questions, but to induce movement in the limb should I conduct something similar to physical therapy (like moving the leg up and down and sideways)?

I promise to let everyone know how things go! :D Thank you for the information! You guys are all very helpful!! :wee:celebrate

It would be good to see a picture of how the chick stands in a couple of pics. Leg bone deformities including slipped tendon are very common in chicks. But they can also get broken bones or sprains. If it is a broken bone after more than a week, it may be too late to splint. But some do use small strips of vet wrap (or cohesive first aid wrap) to wrap a slipped tendon to try and fix it in place. It seldom is successful though, but I would try. Here are some links to read to help you decide if it is broken, slipped tendon, or what:

I have a week old broiler chick with an injured leg, the litter is attaching and drying onto the wound. I tried peeling it off but some parts of the skin came off with it. It seems to be doing fine but I noticed it lays down a lot especially to feed. I don't know if maybe applying an antibiotic cream onto the leg would help and the leg is swollen already.
