Hi
I received some hatchery chicks about three days ago and I just noticed one of them has a huge eye on one side. It does not look like it is infected. There is no pus or drainage. It is just huge compared to the other eye. This is a salmon faverolle pullet. She is eating and drinking and preening. It doesn't seem to bother her at all. It is not shut and does have an eyeball which is very large. Has anyone ever experienced this? Of course I will not breed her but if it doesn't bother her then I see no reason to cull. I did put some antibiotic cream on it to lubricate to see if there was anything maybe stuck under the eyelid that was causing the swelling but it really doesn't look like an abcess just a really large eyeball. Thanks for any input on this situation!
