Chick won't eat. What to do?

My order of ISA Brown chicks came in this morning. They're all doing fine except one. I can put her beak in water (with electrolytes) and get her to take a few swallows, but she won't eat anything. She's lethargic, but can stand alright when i get her up. Any suggestions?

In my experience, raisins always do the trick. they love them.

That is why I never mail order chicks.Too many things can go wrong.

I would give her plain scrambled eggs, maybe add some poultry vitamins to them. I've never heard of giving them a raisin, is this common?

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried soaking a little feed in water until it was soft, but it was nearly impossible to open her mouth and get any in. Not sure she could handle a piece of raisin.

I'll try the scrambled egg. I wonder if just a bit of raw egg yolk would work?

I've never fed raw eggs, I'm not sure. Maybe she would like the yolk from a boiled egg better, but my chicks always went nuts over scrambled...ran around like they had found a worm. It's be easy to get a sprinkle of vitamins into a raw scrambled egg, and just nuke it for a minute.

I'm letting her rest a little while, and then try giving her some egg. But she won't peck at anything, so I don't know.....

I think the vitamin water will hopefully perk her up enough to eat some eggs. Poor thing. Good luck with her.
