Chicken behaviour

She needs help. Don’t worry about her being mad. Soak her and take more pictures. There’s something going on under all that and we need to figure out what’s going on. The soak will feel good to her.
She’s actually being very good. When I was washing her to see what was going on, she just stayed there... I think she knows we are helping her!

No, it isn't supposed to look like that. It isn't supposed to look like an outie belly button either. It is supposed to be a taught, moist, slot slightly pink at the most. This is what it should look like.

I will! My poor Lacey! She has been eating normally and her poop looks like normal as well. She seems to have gone downhill in the last 12 hours or so.
In the photo, that area looks almost raw... is it supposed to look like that? I’m unsure because it’s usually covered in fluff!

The actual vent looks similar to your picture but the problem is below the vent it is very swollen and looks like a wound. I also found maggots. Now I’m thinking she may have an infection ‍♀️

If you found maggots. You’ve got to remove each and every one.
Daily soaks daily removal.
Maggots take careful attention and you must make sure you get every single one.
ETA: if you don’t they will kill your little hen
yes, I have been getting them and killing them!
