That second one would be perfect for foundation piecing.
That first one I think is called a tessalating pattern (or something like that)

Oooo, I like that. An applique would take a while... but hey... its only time, right?
I have been working on an applique experiment of my own. I used a needle turn pattern. Rose Hughe's East-Piece Applique technique. and a glue stick to hold everything down. The background fabric I got because I thought( chicken eyes) when I saw it. I think it worked well.
I will keep this one for a center block for my quilt I think. I'ts too much work for a whole quilt. I think the others will be paper pieced.
The background fabric looks good in person on the screen it's way too busy. I will use it for eyes though. I was fun to give this a try.
This bottom one looks like a beautiful quilt!
Yay! I'm thinking of a split background for my block, like green for the bottom and blue for the top. I'm starting to collect my fabric but I'm focusing first on the r/w/b blocks next.Wooo Hooooo!!!!!!! W/ the few simplifications I made to a couple of the pattern pieces, the lined turned technique and the clear thread, I think I have managed to figure out a way I can do this applique!!!!!!! So Tweety is back in!!!!
