Chicken Breed Focus - Australorp

...post pics at various intervals. Those are some very interesting looking Australorps.
Will do. The parents are Blue Australorps so one chick (#2) is all black, two are more of a charcoal colour (#1 + another chick, not pictured). Those colours didn't surprise me given the parents. "Blondy" (chick #3 above), however, is more of a light grey colour - (s)he's the odd one out & I'm interested in seeing what (s)he looks like.

We hatched out eggs I got from someone locally. I saw the parents but there was also a more traditional-looking hen in there as well (RIR colouring) so who knows whether or not chick #3 was actually one of that hen's eggs.

Either way... will update pics periodically. ;)

Ellie, inquisitive for sure. I find that mine go through various stages of friendly, or shy at various ages. Just keep socializing with them, and when they get to laying, they're very friendly. They're chatty too.

SJMike, I love the colors, and they're looking really good. Nice shape to them for their age, from what I can see. I too am very hands on with my Australorps. It pays off in the long run.
