Mine have spurs and I have heard that certain lines have double spurs. Is it true that cubalayas are spurless?
I sent you a PMAnybody out there with bantam cubalayas, that will sale me hatching eggs. I order some day old chicks from Cackles, they were weak and only three survived. Two roos and one hen, not much to start a flock with. Cackle's appears to provide bantam cubalaya chicks for all the other hatcheries. I would like a different blood line, if I can find eggs. I am not in a hurry, but if I don't find eggs, I will probably order more chicks from Cackle around mid summer.
Are yours full size or bantam? I'm looking for the full sized cubalaya but haven't had any luck.I chose cubalayas or their beauty, their athleticism, intelligence and tameness. They are capable of flying way up in a tree, but choose to come sit in your lap or treat time. Some o the cocks can be extremely tame. I have known 3 who were utter cuddle bunnies, enjoying petting and handling. They are all show hams. They seem to love going to shows and being admired. When people look at them they start to strut, and many of my boys will crow on command. The hens are generally less affectionate, but they are good brooders and will raise the chicks to seek human contact.
This is Herbie, a young cockerel who is extremely tame.
