Chicken Breed Focus - Euskal Oiloa (Marraduna Basque)

Not to say that the Marans people aren't dedicated they are, but frankly I don't think the blue genes should ever have been allowed in that breed. it just has created so much Havoc . Anyway, back to the Basques they are a great breed breed.
I think they will go well with a backyard flock.... And ...just an educated guess on my part ...I think they would be a great breed to teach to do tricks.

This breed is not easy to find in Canada, much less in Manitoba! A few popular breeders that soldthem no longer sell them. Chicken people try them out! In 2011 they were ranked the #1 breed to have!!! They are dual purpose and lay large to x-large eggs! I will try to find the article.

Doesn't the Lady who has the lavender farm im Canada still breed them? I know she was very active in the breed. I just love this breed. They're so personable .and the people I have met in the breed are really nice people.

Wow that's a stunner . I'm astonished . I thought she would be one of the huge movers and shakers in the breed
wow ...I don't know what to say. What happened? is Skyline Poultry in the USA still breeding Basques?

3 riverschick, I was also wondering if Skyline Poultry was still in the Basque too. Skyline and the lady in Canada were the huge promoters of the breed. If neither still have them, it makes you wonder. I would love to try a hen or two just to see if they were a fit for me.

Maggiesdad, you wouldn't by chance have a couple to spare hanging around, would you?

Seems like there are several places in USA
