Chicken Cam

That's so cute! They are loving that heat lamp, how cold is it where you are? I want this cam, tell me about it, where to get it, cost etc. how it works etc. I want one lol.

This is a foscam fi8910w wireless ip camera. I got it from foscam's website www.foscam.us. It cost me about $90, but there are less expensive models. It was pretty simple to set up. All you need is a wifi router.

We live in New Orleans, so it isn't really cold. However, we have been getting a lot of rain and wanted to combat some of the dampness. The temperatures have ranged the last few weeks between low 40s to low 70s. I know the light is probably unnecessary, but we had it lying around and don't see them shying away from the light.

Also, a cool feature about this camera is the ability to pan and tilt. You can setup multiple username/passwords with different features available to the user. It also has a great infrared feature that is very clear; however, the lamp in the coop keeps the IR from turning on automatically. There is also a speaker and microphone in the camera, so if you desire you can listen to them or talk to them. We haven't tried this out yet so no feedback on that feature. They have several apps on the iPhone that you can use to view the camera feed. We use "camviewer" but there are several apps we haven't explored yet.
