chicken cant see

one of my hens i hatched out... i noticed today is walking around blind... or possible near sighted... she was eating fine a couple weeks ago... today she was eatin the dirt instead of food? has anyone had this happen... her eyes arnt fogged up either.. they look normal

We were blessed with a blind chick too (Tip Toe). She was adopted by another hen who was her virtual escort. The hen would help her find food and stay with her. The trouble was [back then] they were all free range and roosted in the trees. We would find Tip Toe scrooched up to pine cones......She lived about a year, then vanished.

If I had it to do over again, I would have penned the sight seer and Tip Toe...they made the sweetest, most gentle pair.....she touched our lives with the lessons that animals share empathy and compassion for each other like humans do......we thought, at the time, we were doing right by them allowing them the freedom of free ranging....but now I feel a bit different for those chicks with "special needs."

its just odd...she used to be able to see...now she walks around lost...i'm guessing her sight's gonna stay how it is?
