Chicken Coop construction UPDATED

Quote:
I thought about that but I want to build it right and be within city code as much as possible. I can always use the old studs to build other items for inside the building, such as the dividing wall between the chicken coop and the nursery/storage room or framing out for the intake fan and several vent doors. I know the wood won't go to waste, since I have a number of projects that I'm always needing 2 x 4's for.

I should have known things wouldn't be running so perfect during construction, that should have been a red flag for me. LOL

I'm going to map out that whole wall after work and have my wife hold the tape measurer so I can pin-point exactly where the problem is and how I can fix it.
If you look on my webpage at the tallest wall (south) you'll see that I had to split the wall into two sections (an upper and a lower) the lower section is the larger of the two, the upper one is where I plan on installing vent doors (two large openings). The opening at the bottom is a cleanout door for the chicken coop area. Additional windows will be framed out below the vent doors. Anyway, if you're facing the wall from outside, the tallest stud is on the left side of the storage room and the shortest is on the right side of the chicken coop room.
(just looked on my webpage, I don't have a full photo of the south wall with the second added framing on it, only have this one) I'll see if I can't take a photo of the complete frame after work today and post it.

Is it just one stud that is off? If one stud is too long use your reciprocating saw, if one stud is too short build it up using liquid nails and metal plate to attach. I know you are a perfectionist but there must be an easier way to fix the problem without tearing it all out and rebuilding. You would die laughing if you saw all the "problems" I encountered. I just incorporated them into the design and fixed it... Keep in mind I didn't know what I was doing to begin with so in the end it really didn't matter. And, besides, the chickens haven't complained. No one is going to judge you and 5 years from now this won't be important. This advice from someone that built a coop and didn't know you can't pull out ring shank nails once they are in... LOL............... linda//

My wife says that to me all the time! So far there isn't another way, going to review it one more time before tearing into it and fixing the problem

I will...and sadly...it would bug me 5 years from now if I don't fix it now....I've got the perfectionist issue bad...it's a bad fault of mine, but to me...it's not a fault but a needed view of doing things right!

Drives my wife crazy!! Because she's always in a hurry to have projects done by me! She can't understand how someone can prep a wall for 2 days before painting it. I make sure that the wall is smooth without any dents or bumps in it before applying any paint to it.

Well I spent today fixin' the problem. Every 2 x 4 needed to be replaced other than the first one on the left side. The wall is fixed finally and the bubble on the level is dead in the middle.

I took some photos of the 2 x 4's before I completely removed them, so you could see the amount I was off on my measurement.

Tomorrow it's back to the siding, hopefully will finish that tomorrow and start working on the inside until the roofing material shows up Saturday.
This coop can't get done fast enough, those RNP are growing like weeds!! I can't believe in 3 weeks they're over 4 times plus the size when we purchased them.
Our keets are knocking at the door (well, let's say they're knocking on their egg shells) 2 of them have already broke small openings in the shells. We were expecting them this Saturday but I guess some of them decided to come early.

Hopefully we have at least 18-20 hatch of the 24 that we have. I'll take some photos when I get a chance to, don't want to open the lid of the incubator right now, wait until we have to remove some of them, after they're dry some.

It came with the tractor. Also have a 8 disc unit and an 8 tine cultivator. Need to replace the rear tires on the tractor with a wider set and repair the steering linkage on it, it's plum worn out, can't steer straight half the time there's so much play in the steering.
A garden is on my list for next Spring if I survive this chicken coop project.

Going to modify the mounting bracket for the plow so it plows on the outside of the rear tire so I'm not driving over what's been plowed already, it's the only draw-back I see with the plow since it's a single row and the tractor is at least a double if not a triple row.
