Should I give up on it?

Don't give up! I just think you should get more than one chick. If you decide to get full grown chickens though, that's okay too.

Okay okay I’m going to give it 2 more days like I said before and if it hatches I’ll make sure to get another one if not I’ll just get some either way. Please pray it hatches tho😂 I’ve been spending 3 weeks being excited, anxious, and worried XD If it hatches I’ll name it miracle🥺😔🐥💜

True, I hatched an egg at day 24 and he is fine, but the egg was very dark. It was clear that mine was developing, but this one doesn't even have veining.

Yeah through out the 3 weeks I wondered why I didn’t see any but since I noticed the egg changing I had hope

I’ll just wait and see what happens🤷🏻‍♀️

Okay. :) You can wait if you want. In the future though, if you decide to incubate more eggs (make sure they're fertilized!) you'll quickly be able to tell if they're developing or not. I removed all non-developing eggs by day 7. Some people decide to wait longer, but certainly by day 18 it becomes obvious. You may also be interested in getting an incubator, or building one yourself (it really isn't that hard and is certainly better than just putting a lamp on it).

I watched some videos on how to make one but I didn’t have any of the supplies😭 if my parents let me buy an incubator then I will but they’re kinda pricey lol and I’m extremely knew to this so I just thought it was fertilized from what I’ve seen. So I do feel like it was fertilized but never started developing or something like that. Anyways this is my first time ever doing anything like this so that’s okay I’ll definitely try to learn more tho

Yeah, I would see about getting some chicks. That egg isn't going to hatch, I'm sorry. It does look like an early quitter to me. All eggs have air cells, they just don't show up for a few days. All infertile ones get them too.

Oh. Too bad. I agree that incubators can be pricey, and it's always good to try something at home. Sounds like you're a kid trying to learn, and that's good! I am too. Just keep at it.

People usually start out with chicks, because even with an incubator it can be difficult to hatch eggs (not to mention all the roosters that you may be getting!). So I would recommend getting some sexed chicks to start out with (this means they should be female). Then, after your flock has been established for a while, you can decided to get/make an incubator and hatch some fertile eggs, or add a rooster to your flock and hatch your own. It's a very rewarding experience and I'm glad you tried!

Yep me too. I got a Janoel 12 for Christmas, if this is something you want to do you should ask for one for a birthday maybe

So today was the last day I was going to wait for it to hatch and my mom told me to throw it away but she ended up opening it up for and this is what was inside😂 it sucks but I’ll definitely get some chicks soon
