Please help....
I don't know why one of my 8month old pullet's one eye is excessively lacrimating with bubbling tears and also a white membrane is covering the medial aspect....

What should i do? But the eye(pupil) itself seems clear not cloudy.

Please help.... i don't want her to get blind... is it trauma or what? Is it eyeworm?

I have VetRx at hand if it could also help.

After seeing this, i applied diatomaceous earth food grade today on her wings, tails and portion of the back. And also gave small pieces of ginger orally to her.
I plan to have all my chickens dewormed soon also.

Applying DE to your chicken's wings and tail reminds me of the old home remedy of a mustard plaster on the chest when someone had a cold. I think it's mostly of value if only to feel you've done something.

Have you tried flushing the eyes with ocular moisturizing drops? Sometimes an eye issue is easily resolved by flushing away eye irritants and providing moisture for dry eyes. Do it several times a day for a few days. If you really want to feel you've done something, get some Terramycin antibiotic eye ointment from the feed store and use it twice a day in the eyes.

Can i flush the eye water mixed with salt?

Yes, but there is a little more to it than just mixing salt and water. Here's a recipe for homemade eye wash.

  1. Boil 2 cups of water covered for 15 minutes.
  2. Allow to cool to room temperature.
  3. Add 1 teaspoon of salt.
  4. Add 1 pinch of baking soda (optional).
  5. Stir until dissolved.
  6. Refrigerate in airtight container for up to 24 hours. (After that, it should be discarded.)

Ok. Will do as the recipe. Thank you. Hopefully she'll get better. Seems to stay in the nestbox for quite some time today and is closing her eyes. I am really worried about her.

Be sure to let the cold eye wash warm up to room temp before putting it in her eyes. The cold may be painful and shock her.
Okay. Haven't refrigerated it as the weather seems cold so will use it first when the hot salt solution cools off. How many drops or is it fine to drop as many as possible?
