I had this at the end of my "Emergency, No Room" thread but it was a bit dead. So, I thought I would renew it and see if anyone has any bright ideas. Keep in mind this is a work in progress and I will update the thread as I go.

I have about 10 chicks on the way that I need to house, and have around 2 months to finish this setup.
IDEAS:

For the tower, Im thinking about wrapping it with steel hardware cloth about 6 ft up, and tie it off with tie wraps. Also, Im going to take off the ladder and make it into a walk-up roost. Then some kind of makeshift roof on top of that. I mite even add a second floor...maybe. Its going to be an open air coop, cuz I live in Texas and it doesn't get very cold here.

On the small blind to the left Im pretty much just going to add a run to it and throw some hardware cloth around the opening. What is the easiest, cheapest, safest run that I could throw together?

That looks like a chair for a woodland giant! That will be one unique coop. Keep us posted. Wish I had ideas, but.....

Good luck!

That tower is an elevated hunting stand. A chicken run is not it's highest and best use. Sell it on Craigslist or local hunting bulletin board and go buy some materials with the money you get from the sale. You will be much happier. You might be able to get $150-250 for it.

I dunno chief...Im pretty stoked at the thought of a chicken tower...I dont think anyone would come pick it up where I live anyways. It would probably cost 100$ just for gas to get where I live. I dont think I could build a chicken coop for 200$ anyways.

Howdy neighbor! I'm north of Longview.

Hey there! I live near Texarkana. Nice weather were having huh? lol

For the hunting stand, could you put it on it's side and cover with hardware cloth, and build the coop into one end? Or use it upright, and make the bottom most part the 'run', and build a coop into the higher rung, with a pop door in the floor to the run? If you put wheels on the legs, you could even use it as a tractor. You will have quite a bit of wasted space in height, not that that necessarily matters.

The wooden blind looks like it would make a nice little breeder coop or duck house.

You know, I was thinking the exact same thing earlier. I was thinking about turning it on its side for more room...It would look a little weird, but I dont think the chickens will mind.

A duck house? My father actually wanted ducks but I dont know much of anything about keeping ducks.

Ducks are super easy, just messy. My Saxonies, Appleyards, and Welsh Harlequins have been dead reliable layers compared to my chickens. Ducks are just fun, too.
