chicken gone bad

So if hypothetically a chicken were to stop giving useful eggs, what do you guys usually do with 'em?
The chicken, I mean.

I am afraid of this day, secretly I always relied on animals. I know it sounds mean and awful don't judge me, but this year now animals have attacked and their getting to 3 years now, but I think I'll just give them away and keep my favorite ones.

I think they deserve to retire in the home they are familiar with, plus they are pets first to me.

I don't cull mine I let nature take its course, if their good broody mamas I'll keep them as long as I can.

I could never cull. They are highly respected members of our ranch. I would just let nature take its course.

I choose to give my old birds a merciful end of life, instead of letting them die a long lingering and possibly painful death. If a bird is showing signs of reproductive illness, that is a very painful way to go.
