Hello!
I have a year old Americauna who seems to have injured her tongue. I went out to the coop this morning and saw that she had something sticking out of her mouth. Turns out she had string wound tightly around her tongue. I managed to wrap her in a towel and carefully cut the string off, but she has a large hematoma underneath the tongue. I posed the picture below. I read on another forum to use a little mouthwash to rinse her mouth out to try to prevent infection and did so, then I gave her water. She appears to drink normally and walk around/peck around normally but doesn't really want to eat her food. Any advice??
